Access to quality education is a core American value and is of national importance. It is a pillar of democracy and determines the country’s ability to advance and compete in the world. The United States has lost its educational edge, with estimated proficiency in 2011 in Math (32nd) and reading (17th) globally. In addition to these numbers the growing disparity of proficiency within the US is startlingly disproportionate between public and private schools.
Nobody disputes the systemic problems, but the imbalances of power within the education system are prohibiting critical and necessary change.
We see EDUCATION as paramount to OPPORTUNITY and the advancement of the country. We Act 4 a focus on resolutions to the clear systemic imbalances and a deeper investment into the critical public infrastructure of EDUCATION.
